FAQ
Q1. [Individual Customers]
I'd like to know the price of an engraved kitchen knife and purchase one.
We sell our knives exclusively through authorized agencies. We do not conduct direct sales to individual customers.
[In-Store Orders]
You can place an order at knife shops that carry the “Sakai Takayuki” brand. Please provide the following information when placing your order. Since all orders are made-to-order, please allow at least two months for delivery.
① Desired design (work title)
② Whether you want colored plating
Although the work on this website list features items with colored plating, you may also order “no colored plating (engraving only).” With the “no colored plating” option, the engraved areas retain the knife’s base metal color (silver), highlighting the metal’s natural luster.
If you have a preferred knife size or type (such as Deba, Yanagiba, Gyuto, or Santoku), please let us know when placing your order. If you have no specific preferences, the knife will be made according to the specifications listed on this website.
[Ordering Online]
We accept orders through the online store of our distributor, “Seisuke Hamono.” Clicking the button below will take you to the “Contact Us” page on the Seisuke Hamono website. Please use the inquiry form to let us know which product you are interested in.
Q2. [Knife Shops and Wholesalers]
We would like to request Meikiri or engraving on our own blades.
Please contact us via the "Contact" link at the top right of this website.
Q3. Is it possible to engrave on a knife I already own?
Unfortunately, we do not offer that type of service.
Q4. Is it possible to engrave the design I want?
Unfortunately, we do not offer that type of service.
Q5. Is it okay to use it as a kitchen knife?
We recommend that you display these engraving knives for aesthetic purposes rather than use them. Of course, it has a sharp blade, so it cuts exceptionally well. However, the intricately carved parts are difficult to clean completely. For hygienic reasons, we do not recommend using it.
Q6. How should I care for it?
Moisture is the enemy of knife steel. If moisture remains, rust will form.
Wipe away any moisture, such as dampness, completely with a dry towel or cloth.
To prevent rust, it is also effective to apply a blade maintenance oil or a vegetable oil such as salad oil.
